Due to its distinctive shape, the Trettachspitze is one of the best-known summits in the Allgäu Alps. Its traverse is a demanding mountain tour with ridge climbing up to third grade difficulty on the ascent and up to second grade on the descent. Bolt anchors are absent here; only in some places on the descent can you rappel on drilled anchors. Secure climbing ability and absolute fearlessness of heights are therefore fundamental prerequisites for climbing the Trettachspitze. But those who possess these qualities will experience an impressive route with airy ridge climbing and outstanding panorama. The ascent is via the northeast ridge, the descent via the northwest ridge.
