Due to the poorly recognisable markings, the onward route from Schwarzsee to Schwarzkopf is currently (2015) less recommended.Roadbook
From the Oberkaser Hütte hut, the trail climbs steeply westwards on a path paved with rock slabs, then somewhat flatter past the ruins of the Meraner Hütte hut, then steeper again to the Grünsee lake (it gets its colour from the green vegetation around it, which is reflected in the water).
The path now leads to the right of the lake, steeper again in a few hairpin bends up to the Schiefersee, past it on the north side over wet ground and then more steeply up a slope with steps and a safety chain to the Spronser Joch.
Back down to the Schiefersee lake to the beginning of the lake, from there a path leads to the left with very difficult to recognise markings past the Schwarzsee lake and further up to the Schwarzkopf (2,805 m).
Return along the same path, past the Grünsee lake and the ruins of the Meraner Hütte hut, here you can now recognise the Mückensee lake on the descent southwards and the Spronser Rötspitz above it, further down to the Oberkaser Hütte hut.
