Selected alternatives for you
Probably the most striking and famous mountain in the entire region, it is one of the most popular photo motifs in both winter and summer. In summer, a steep hiking trail leads to the summit.

The Omeshorn over Lech Zürs... Many peaks are directly accessible from Lech and Zürs, but no mountain over Lech is as striking as the Omeshorn. The steep rock flank has to be circumnavigated in winter on skis at the famous White Ring, in summer one can reach the summit on the grassy backside. For this tour, a head for heights and sure-footedness is necessary, after rainy days, this tour should not be done.

    Author’s recommendation

Note: This route should not be attempted on rainy days!

Highlights: Unrivalled views of Lech am Arlberg and the surrounding mountains

Places to stop for refreshments: Fish pond and restaurants in Lech am Arlberg and Zug

Alternative route: The route can also start in Zug (slightly shorter, but steeper at the start)

    Roadbook

From the Dorfhus, follow the Lech Promenade upstream. When you reach the old covered bridge, cross the road and walk past the Chalet Säge. At house no. 8, turn right onto the side road. At the next junction, follow the path to the left uphill. The road soon joins a forest track. After about 30 minutes, we pass a cattle gate, after which the path soon narrows. Following the mountainside, we reach the Gstüt-Alpe. Here we can rest briefly and take our first break whilst watching the horses in the mountain meadows. We then continue along a narrow path around the Omeshorn until we come to a fork. We follow the signs to the left towards the Omeshorn. Ahead of us lie large boulders that some people would love to climb. About 30 minutes after the junction, we reach the summit slope. The path here is very steep and narrow, so sure-footedness and a head for heights are essential. Furthermore, the path leads across a steep grassy slope, so the path must be completely dry (avoid hiking after rainy days). It takes about 1 hour to cover the summit slope and the subsequent hike along the ridge to the summit. The view is, of course, well worth the effort. The view of Lech, Zug and across to Zürs and Oberlech, the mighty peaks of Wöster, Valluga and Mohnenfluh... you simply cannot get enough of these mountains. After a leisurely break at the summit, the descent follows the same route as the ascent; alternatively, the walk can also start in Zug am Fischteich. Overall, the walk is slightly shorter, but the start is steeper.
