Straubinger House - circular route from Erpfendorf
Scenic circular route mostly on narrow paths in challenging but technically easy climbing terrain.
The circular trail offers distant views in all directions, with the Wilder Kaiser being the most impressive.
In spring/early summer, the alpine pasture area of the Eggenalm around the Straubinger House with the Fellhorn is characterized by great floral diversity.

Rules of conduct on alpine pastures:
Cattle have priority on alpine pastures, i.e. pass by them carefully and quietly – if in doubt, "talk gently" to them. Alpine pasture gates must always be closed after opening/passing through so that cattle cannot leave the pasture.

Details on the Straubinger House;Roadbook
Day 1
From the parking lot heading east to the "Gut Hanneshof".
The route begins by passing through a narrow double-post gate into the golf course and leads along the far right edge of the golf course to the forest edge. There it goes left on a nice, slightly wider path to an open slope with views over the golf course, where a signpost guides us to the barely visible path going right uphill to Eggenalm (Straubinger House).
A bit above we turn left at another sign into the rocky part of the Gernweg. Steps secured with support boards and a bridge cross a small stream and bring us to a more densely forested section.
There follow switchbacks in a consistently steep forest terrain with clearings and beautiful views.
Before the Gernsattel the path changes to flatter sections heading west, with views of the Wilder Kaiser and Unterberghorn. At the following Gernsattel it enters alpine pasture land, where the path turns right uphill, changing direction east and gently ascending along the slope above Kreuzangeralm to the farm road to Eggenalm.
The farm road is crossed and then the path merges into it. After a short steep paved section the highest point is reached and the destination, the Straubinger House on Eggenalm, comes into view.
Day 2
The transition to Steinplatte takes place up to the Durchkaser-Almen on the Premium Alpine Hiking Trail - Glacier View.
It starts just before the house at the signpost on a path uphill heading east and then on a farm road to Hochtrittalm between Eggenalmkogel and Fellhorn. After the alm the path leads around the Eggenalmkogel with slight climbs and descents through pine scrub to the Durchkaseralmen. At the alms it continues on a farm road with path shortcuts past the Brennhütte to the large Steinplatte Guesthouse parking lot.
From the parking lot we have to go a short way uphill on the road to the Stallenalm. From there a farm road branches off, slightly ascending eastward/towards the cable car, to the Grünwaldalm. At the end of the path, at a signpost, begins the Grünwald Trail to Waidring.
The path crosses a farm road twice and joins the toll station of the Steinplatten Road in the district Schredergasse in Waidring. At the junction with Loferer Straße you go through an underpass to the bus stop and can take the post bus back to Erpfendorf, stop "Schredfeld".
