Steinbock route – stage 3

The hut connection between the Mindelheimer Hut and the Rappensee Hut is a technically demanding but scenically impressive route. The wide panorama over the Rappen valley and the view of the Biberkopf accompany us constantly. A narrow path, where surefootedness and caution are required, leads to the Schrofen Pass. A head for heights is essential on this stage, as we overcome exposed sections secured with steel cables and two aluminum bridges along the way. A scenic high path with views of the opposite Schafalpenköpfe leads us along the northern face of the Biberkopf. Depending on the season, we discover a diverse and often rare floral display on the alpine meadows of the Biberalpe. Via steep hairpin bends we reach the Mutzentobel and with wide views into the Oberallgäu, we finally hike along broad alpine paths towards the Rappensee Hut.
