Stallkarspitze crossing

This impressive and demanding ridge crossing in the relatively unknown Rosszahngruppe requires a good sense of direction in pathless terrain as well as considerable experience with brittle rock. The pure climbing difficulty - depending on the route chosen - never exceeds grade II. Nevertheless, steps and holds should always be carefully tested for stability and loaded sensitively. The route also demands physical fitness: it covers 14 km distance, nearly 1500 meters of elevation gain, and three summit ascents. The effort is rewarded with fantastic long-distance and deep views in a truly solitary corner of the Allgäu Alps. While the Grubachspitze (2100 m) is still visited relatively often thanks to easier paths, the summit register of the Stallkarspitze (2350 m) counts on average only 10 to 20 entries per year.
