Spathi is the highest peak of the Dikti Mountains, the third highest mountain range of Crete after the Ida Mountains and the White Mountains (Lefka Ori). The normal route from the Limnakaro plateau runs along the spectacular vertical west face of Spathi, whose appearance definitely evokes Alpine feeling. The trail itself is easy and quite well marked, as it is part of the long distance hiking trail E4. From Heraklion, the summit is reachable in just an hour by car.
