Tip 2: If the Southernmost Sonnenwand is no longer climbed, you can descend northeastwards over the Southern Sonnenwandferner, past the lake, down to the Stoanmandle (see waypoint).
Tip 3: At least one overnight stay at the Pforzheimer Hut should be planned. On the one hand, this shortens the ascent and descent by 3-4 hours; on the other hand, the Pforzheimer Hut offers a very pleasant atmosphere, warm hospitality, an excellent culinary offer, and even fast Wi-Fi since this year.

Due to the extremely brittle and on the shaded side damp rock, utmost caution and concentration are required! An ascent in midsummer would - in case of corresponding summer weather - certainly be less problematic regarding moisture.Warning: The GPS track and the Stoanmandle (waypoint) serve only as rough orientation. Therefore, please determine the optimal route independently according to your skills in the terrain. Some towers definitely have to be avoided...

From there, continue directly on the ridge, with some swings to the east or west side, ascending to the summit. Upon reaching the rarely visited (4 summit register entries in 2014) small summit cross of the Zwiselbacher Grießkogel, after a possible short refreshment, immediately descend via the south ridge (partly hiking terrain) to the notch below the Vorderen Sonnenwand. If you want to do the route without the Zwiselbacher Grießkogel, you must ascend to this notch from the path at the "Samerschläge".
In technically not very demanding but, due to moisture and brittle rock, still challenging climbing, ascend to the Vorder Sonnenwand. If you want to leave your mark in the 1977(!) summit book, you should bring something to write with (and ideally leave it there ;-)... From this beautiful, panoramic summit, always climb southwards on a difficulty grade of up to 3 (depending on the route) to the inconspicuous Mittleren and finally to the Hinteren Sonnenwand.
However, the summit series is only complete with the ascent of the southernmost Sonnenwand. Shortly before its summit, switch to the south side (magnificent view of the Gleirschfernerkogl) and ascend northwards to the summit (partly path traces).
The descent is via the (partly very slippery!) east ridge down to a lake, which is bypassed on the right. About 80m below the moraine wall is a Stoanmandle (waypoint!). This rock pile and its companions now lead through boulder fields and meadows (partly path traces) to a marked path, which continues northwards back to the Pforzheimer Hut.
