This route is for lovers of quiet and very long paths. Since this route involves about 11 hours of walking time and approximately 2000 m of altitude difference as well as unmarked trails, it is a sporting challenge. The reward consists of breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain world. Besides that, this route also shows a lot of untouched nature.

    Author’s recommendation

Those undertaking the route at very early or late hours of the day (after 5:00 PM in summer) have good chances of spotting animals like ibex.

    Safety information

Essential knowledge in alpine surroundings as well as an absolute sense of direction; since the trail partly shows no path traces and cairns are placed at large intervals.

    Tips and suggestions

I became aware of the route through these beautiful descriptions:

    Roadbook

The start of the route is Schlinig; from the hiking car park at the end of the village, it continues over a bridge on a forest road up the valley. Soon after, the valley end becomes visible with an impressive waterfall. The forest road changes valley side and merges with the asphalt road to the Schlinig Alm. After this, the path splits and leads as a hiking trail from the valley floor up in several switchbacks overcoming the altitude difference of the waterfall. Then the hiking trail merges again with the road and leads to the old Pforzheim hut, which is very well preserved but not in use; so the nearby Sesvenna hut remains the place to stop for refreshment. From there, a path leads to the Foucla Sesvenna. With about an hour more, one can also climb the Föllakopf (2878 m), which, by its appearance, fits better to the Dolomites. Back on the main path, the route goes past several lakes uphill to the Sesvenna saddle. Here the actual route begins.

From the saddle, path traces marked with cairns lead northwest up the ridge to the Schadler (2974 m). From here, the ridge turns into a crest and leads to the scree summit formation of Piz Rims (3066 m). From there, it continues over a partly exposed ridge to Piz Christanas (3091 m). From this point, the broader scree ridge descends towards Fourcla Cornet, again clearly visible path traces can be seen. The trail crosses Fourcla and climbs in a narrow scree gully onto the elongated ridge of Piz d Immez (3030 m). You follow this until the traces turn further north and the descent to Lajet da Lischana begins. There, one meets again a blue marked trail leading from S-charl to Fourcla da Rims.

Heading towards Fourcla, you now follow the trail with small ascents. At Fourcla, a path leads further to Piz Lischana (3105 m). The further path then continues to Alp Sursass past the Lais da Rims. From the alp, you now take the forest road uphill to the pass and further to the final descent to Schlinig via the forest road.
