Return to the parking lot at the Dortmunder Hut unfortunately mostly on paved main road uphill. Better to leave the bike at the Dortmunder Hut and then start the route in St. Sigmund in the opposite direction.
Alternative in high summer: bus between Dortmunder Hut and St. Sigmund (however, only from around July 9th in 2017)

If there is a higher risk of thunderstorms, I would not do the route because of the high passesRoadbook
From the Dortmunder Hut to the Finstertalbach (AV map: route 146) and up to the Finstertal reservoir. Along the east side and up to the Finstertaler col (2778m). Then down to the Schweinfurter Hut (still route 146). Further on the forest road to the southeast, soon turning left onto a path, finally steeply up to the pass at 3050m, from which a short detour leads to the Zwieselbacher Roßkogel. Occasionally easy climbing. Back to the pass and down to the New Pforzheim Hut. Descent to the forest road out to St. Sigmund.
The detour to the Kraspesspitze can also be omitted.
