This demanding ridge route leads us from Oberstdorf up to the Schattenberg and then follows the rocky and densely juniper-covered, sometimes razor-sharp grassy ridge over Seeköpfle and Hüttenkopf to the Zeigersattel. The alpine sliding path, probably one of the most beautiful but also most challenging descents in the Allgäu Alps, then takes us down into the Oytal. The route is very rarely used as it is reserved only for experienced mountaineers and the path is no longer maintained. It offers us magnificent views of the Oberstdorf mountains, the Illertal valley, and the green shimmering Seealpsee. With some luck, we can even admire chamois, marmots, or the golden eagle. Time to absorb this scenery is only available during stops, as the route requires our full concentration.
