There is the possibility of luggage transport via the material cable car (for a fee at the hut warden). The valley station of the lift is about 150 m downhill on the L36, then a field path leads uphill on the left to the visible valley station at the edge of the meadow. Please contact the hut by crank phone (inside).

The steep ascent from the Pitztal climbs in switchbacks to the hut already visible from the parking lot. During the ascent, great views develop into the Pitztal and towards the Pitztal Glacier, as well as of the rugged and shapely peaks of the Kaunergrat.

    Author’s recommendation

Especially in early summer, the path is rich in blooming alpine flora.

    Safety information

Please stay on the path. Cutting corners destroys plant cover and is a source of erosion.

    Roadbook

From the parking lot, cross the road (L36). A pasture gate leads to the direct ascent path (please close the gate again). Ascend in switchbacks over a vegetated scree cone, later along the roaring Kitzlesbach. A forest section follows, then open terrain. A stream crossing is eased by a bridge passage. Half of the ascent is already accomplished here. Now continue upwards in switchbacks with two short sections secured with chains. With every meter of the ascent, the view widens to the inner Pitztal and the distinctive mountains of the Kaunergrat. Soon the hut comes into sight, always follow the marked path to the hut.
