Beautiful circular route in one of the greatest Dolomite regions of the Fassa Valley. Relatively short and not too difficult ascent leading to one of the main peaks of the Rosengarten group. Due to the easy approach, this route, which passes the Rotwandhütte and returns via the Masarè Panorama Trail, is quite crowded in summer.

From the Paolina Hut, follow path 552 almost level northwards to the fork to the Vaiolon Pass. Turn right and continue along path 551, which winds over steep gravel cirques to the foot of the Rotwand and then through a protected gully (short secured section) up to the Vaiolon Pass (2560 m). From the saddle, enjoy a beautiful view of the Vaiolon peaks, the Tscheiner Peak, and the Mugoni Peak. After unpacking the via ferrata equipment, follow the north ridge of the Rotwand along an easy, secured trail fully equipped with steel cables. This not particularly steep route, which offers a magnificent panorama during the ascent, ultimately leads to the summit of the Rotwand (2806 m). Beautiful Dolomite peak with views of the Fassa Dolomites as well as the Pala and Lagorai groups, the eastern Dolomites, the Cima d’Asta, and the high plateau of Welschnofen. On the horizon, the western part of South Tyrol and the main Alpine ridge with its countless peaks and glaciers can be seen. To complete
