Beautiful alpine pasture and high mountain hike in the Antholz Valley
Right at the Staller Saddle, follow the signpost No. 7 directly next to the Italy/Austria border marker. At the first terrain level, a path (marking 53) bends left to Hinterbergkofel, to the Hals Pass, and beyond to Gsies – however, continue to follow marking 7 and cross several times the stream coming from the Agsttal. In a long left-right bend, you reach the upper basin of the Agsttal. Another branching left (marking 10) leads to the Hexenscharte; another crossing into the Gsies valley is possible here. Now, straight ahead in view is the summit cross of the Rote Wand (2818 m). Marking 7 leads over several small terrain levels, and only on the last rise before the pass does the terrain become a bit steeper. To reach the summit cross, a few rocky steps still have to be overcome. - Descent: same as ascent.
