The Rotbachlspitze is a very rewarding viewpoint mountain among the giants of the Hochfeiler group. It stands above the Pfitscherjoch on the state border with Austria and offers a magnificent view of the surrounding glacier-covered peaks.
The hike starts at the 4th hairpin bend of the Pfitscherjoch road. From the 4th hairpin bend onwards, the road is closed. Follow the road along trail no. 3, which is signposted behind the bend, to the pass. On the wide pass plateau stands the clearly visible Pfitscherjochhaus and above it rises the Rotbachlspitze with its characteristic red rock layers. The marked path (no. 4) bypasses the small lake below the hut and then leads upward over the grassy mountain ridge to the clearly visible summit. You practically follow the state border along the increasingly steep mountain ridge. The descent is on the same route.
