We hike from the village centre of Reith on a tarmac road southwards to the Hub district. At the fork in the road, we follow the "Kreuzweg" signpost. After the last farmstead, we follow a gravel road into the ditch, where the first Stations of the Cross appear to the left of the stream. Soon the ditch is crossed to the right and the path narrows into a wide hiking trail. In several hairpin bends, we climb relatively steeply along the rooty path over the ridge to the right of the ditch to the saddle south-east of the Reitherkogel. We pass the Stations of the Cross with benches for resting. At the saddle, the trail continues along the goods road around the children's playground (Juppi Zauberwald) flat to the foot of the Reitherkogel and right past the Schwablkapelle chapel and the beautiful mountain farm to the north-east ridge. Turn left here onto the rooty and rugged hiking trail, which leads up several short steep steps to the summit with its cross, book and benches. Here the view of the Zillertal is limited.
After the summit, the trail continues northwards for a short flat stretch to a viewing bench overlooking the Inn Valley. Now follow the narrow path westwards in many hairpin bends down the very steep forest slope to the junction with a gravel road. Follow this to the right and after two long hairpin bends you reach the saddle between Reitherkogel and Hinterkogel. If you follow the road, the panoramic trail takes you back to Hub via several hairpin bends. Shortly after the saddle, turn left onto the Alpenvereinssteig. In an overgrown trench, the trail descends quite steeply in hairpin bends. We stay on the steep right-hand side of the slope. Before the stream gorge, we leave the trench to the right and cross the northern slopes of the Reitherkogel on a narrow path. Two rope-secured rocky steps are easily negotiated. We join a forest road and follow it to the right. At a fork, we stay straight (briefly uphill) and emerge from the forest at the chapel in Hub. Follow the tarmac road back to Reith.
