This mountain hike leads past a turquoise lake over a water-rich plateau to a genuine viewpoint 3000-meter peak.
The Pointe de l'Observatoire is aptly named. Between the impressive peaks Dent Parrachée and Pointe de l'Échelle, it is merely an insignificant rock spire, but the view of the Vanoise glacier mountains is far more extensive than one would expect. The path to this viewpoint 3000-meter peak is also scenic: from the turquoise Lake Plan d'Amont to the Fond d'Aussois marshy plain to the waterfalls and alpine roses in the rear valley basin, there is a lot of variety. Although the route is popular, numerous marmots and ibex can be observed.
