Piz Platta is the highest peak of the Oberhalbstein Alps and with a prominence of over 1000 m a striking landmark in the Engadin. Starting points for an ascent are Cresta in the Avers valley or Tga in the Val Faller. The easiest glacier-free ascent leads from Cresta with easy climbing (grade I) over the Tälihorn and through the southwest flank. The glacier here has now retreated so much that the summit can be reached without ice equipment. If you climb the summit from Tga, you must cross the Vadret da Piz Platta (high mountain tour L). On the descent, a detour to the heart-shaped Upper Bandsee is worthwhile.
