Pico Tesorero is located in the middle of the central massif of the Picos de Europa. Due to its privileged position, it is an excellent viewpoint mountain over all the other peaks of the central massif and the western Picos de Europa. It is characterized by its imposing pyramid-shaped summit. Another special feature of this mountain is that its summit is the meeting point of the borders of Asturias, Cantabria, and Castile and León. This ascent route runs from the upper cable car station (El Cable) of Fuente Dé across former glacial basins and beneath the majestic rock walls of Peña Olvidada and Peña Vieja. The terrain becomes increasingly steep and rugged during the ascent. Below the Peñas Urrieles, we climb a short, well-gripped crack (I+) on a rock face, then continue up to a distinctive rock window.
