Author’s recommendation
A neat path to Persailhorn that leads through the well-passable ledges of the south face. For the habitually unprotected climbers a good way to avoid the falling rocks from the crowds.
Of course, instead of turning back at the summit, you can continue over the other peaks of the Steinernes Meer via Saalfelden and make an extended round (e.g., Weißbachscharte or Ramseiderscharte).

Safety information
At the beginning and end of the summit ascent you enter via ferrata terrain and can secure yourself accordingly. The middle section is, however, completely unprotected.Tips and suggestions
The extended Peter-Wiechenthaler hut (2020) is definitely worth a visit! The magnificent terrace and the "winter garden" invite you to linger. But don’t miss the clock after a few schnapps with Christiane and Philipp - the descent still needs to be mastered.Roadbook
The route describes the normal ascent to the Peter-Wiechenthaler hut from the Bachwinkel car park and from there further via path 428 to the foot of the Persailhorn. The path continues towards the start of the Wildental via ferrata and shares the first few meters of cable protection with it before the normal path finally branches off southwards and leads, unprotected, to the south face. The last meters of this ascent are shared with the south face via ferrata before all paths meet again and ascend the last climbs together to the summit Madonna.
The return route goes back via the normal path, past the Peter-Wiechenthaler hut down to Kreuzweg, where you can choose to continue following the normal descent or, as described in the track, take the cable car path. Both descents are similar in character.

Take the B311 to Saalfelden and at the northern edge of the town take the Pabing/Bachwinkl junction. From there to the Bachwinkl district and to the signposted, fee-based car park.Parking
Above the houses in the Bachwinkl district, there is a large, fee-based car park in the forest. On beautiful summer days, even in the very last gap a car can still fit - so don’t start too late ;).Coordinates
