Over the Schneidspitze

The mountain route leads us into the wide alpine meadows of the Hahnenkamm in the Austrian Allgäu Alps. Above the green pastures rise the gray peaks of the Tannheimer Mountains, offering a beautiful contrast. We stay below the Hahnenkamm and ascend northwards past the managed Lechaschauer Alm to the Gehrenjoch. The Gehrenspitze is clearly visible from here and anyone who wishes can make a detour to the summit. From the Gehrenjoch, there are two options for the further path. Less experienced hikers should choose the alternative route around the Schneidspitze and the summit ascent should also be avoided when wet. Sure-footed and dizzy-free hikers take the challenging path over the Schneidspitze. Steep and exposed, the summit awaits with a magnificent view. Behind the Schneidspitze, the demanding ridge continues with ups and downs to the Sabachjoch, where the two routes reunite. The descent then follows through the wide meadows below the Hahnenkamm back to the mountain station.
