Over the Notkarspitze

The trail begins shortly after the Ettaler Mühle mill and leads you into a world of its own: In the morning, dew lies on the meadows, wafts of mist rise over the Loisach Valley and the sun colors the slopes of the Ammergau Alps in a golden light. The ascent initially leads leisurely along the edge of the forest, past small alpine huts, before the trail becomes steeper on the mountain flank. You soon reach the dense mountain forest, where roots and rocky steps make the ascent to the Ochsenitz (1515 m) and later to the Ziegelspitz (1719 m) exciting. From here, the landscape opens up - the view extends over Oberammergau to the Zugspitze. The narrow ridge to the Notkarspitze is a delight: sometimes you hike through fragrant mountain pines, sometimes along narrow paths with views down into the Graswang valley.
