Over Monte Limidario (Gridone)

The route for experienced mountaineers starts in Cavaglio San Donnino in Valle Cannobina. The picturesque valley, through which the roaring Cannobino winds, stretches westward from Cannobio. In addition to intact, wild nature, numerous original villages can also be found there. From Cavaglio, we first ascend via the mountain villages Olzeno and Le Biuse to the foot of Monte Zuccaro. Then follows the challenging ascent to the summit of Monte Limidario. The mountain received its Italian name because its ridge forms the border between the Italian Cannobino valley and the Swiss Centovalli. As the highest mountain of these two valleys, the Gridone, as it is called in Switzerland, offers a magnificent panoramic view over the Ticino and Valais mountain peaks and Lago Maggiore all the way to Ascona and Locarno.
