The mountain route over Monte Altissimo di Nago runs on historic paths and offers the best views of Lake Garda. In World War I, soldiers camped on and around Monte Altissimo; now the northernmost high point of the Monte Baldo massif is only visited by hikers and mountain bikers. The trenches and small shelters along the path and on the summit still recall the history, and the Rifugio was also named after a war officer. Not only is the view of Lake Garda and the mountains on the opposite shore impressive, but the path itself is as well. We ascend along the imposing rock faces of Monte Altissimo and should bring sure-footedness and a head for heights to fully enjoy the mountain route.
