On a challenging mountain tour we climb through the wild Wolfsschlucht gorge, which is secured with wire ropes, to a summit with a great view and visit a royal alpine pasture on the Rück path.

From the car park west of Wildbad Kreuth we hike into the valley of the Hofbauernwei;ach to the Siebenhüttenalm, where we can stop for a bite to eat for the first time. We continue to the impressive Grosse Wolfsschlucht gorge. We cross the gorge at the foot of the Blauberg-Nordabst and climb out of the basin steeply and secured with wire ropes up to the saddle between Predigtstuhl and Schildenstein. First through sparse forest and alpine meadows, later through mountain pines and steep scree, we reach the 1613 m high Schildenstein. A magnificent panorama awaits us at the summit, reaching as far as the Zillertal Alps. The descent leads via the Königsalm and through the Klammgraben with a short counter ascent to the Geiß-Alm. From here, the trail descends through the wooded northern flank of the Hoher Gernberg to the starting point.
