From Vernagt via the Finailsee in the Schnals Valley, the Grawand has to be conquered.
From Vernagt in the Schnals Valley (1,710 m) briefly along the reservoir, then northwest on trail 8A towards the Finail Valley. On the archaeological hiking trail A1 (trail marker 8), the trail climbs moderately steeply uphill to the Finailalm (Schäferhte, 2,307 m) and continues straight up to the Finailsee (2,690 m). Continue along path 8 until you reach the Finailjoch (3,084 m). From here, turn left up the ridge to the summit of the Grawand (3,251 m). This last section is steep and demanding, and often icy in spring. To spare the knee joint, it is advisable to descend to the mountain station of the Schnalstaler Gletscherbahn (3,212 m), which takes you down into the valley to Kurzras. From here, take the bus to the starting point in Vernagt.
