Two-day challenging alpine mountain route over five summits of the Olympus mountains, including the highest summit of Greece (T5).
Olympus is the highest mountain range in Greece with several summits reaching almost 3000 meters. In Greek mythology, the forbidding limestone massif was considered the home of the gods. Unlike other mountain regions in Greece, Olympus is very well developed and there is also a lot of information about routes available. The trails are exemplary marked and maintained (partly even with securing options) and with 7 huts in the region, a variety of routes is possible. The highest Olympus summit, Mytikas (2918 m), can be combined with other nearby summits at will. This report describes a two-day round route from the Spilios Agapitos hut over the "Top of Hellas" and four other nearby summits, Skolio (2905 m), Skala (2882 m), Toumba (2801 m) and Profitis Ilias (2788 m), where the highest chapel of the Balkan Peninsula stands! On the descent, the new via ferrata over the Kalagi Ridge provides the perfect finishing touch to a perfect mountain day.
