From the Hochmuth inn at the Muthöfen to the Mutkopf and Mutspitz. This magnificent panoramic mountain above Merano is the eastern cornerstone of the Texel Group. Even though this peak is only just under 2300 m high, you are still in the middle of the high mountains. The view of Merano and the Burgraviate is unique.
The cable car takes you from Dorf Tirol to Hochmuth (1361 m), where the mountain farms – also called Muthöfe – cling to the mountain. The trail first leads up to the Steinegg inn. There you turn right onto trail no. 23 through shady mixed forest to the Mutkopf, where there is also an inn. From the Mutkopf, follow the signs to "Mutspitz" (trail no. 22 "Tiroler Höhenweg") on a well-maintained hiking trail over the eastern ridge. Above the tree line, the ridge becomes increasingly steeper, but the trail is always comfortable. On the last stretch it leads through rocky terrain, but you don't have to climb anywhere. The descent follows the same route.
