Mountain tour to the Antelao in the Dolomites
Ascent of the King of the Dolomites: Antelao, King of the Dolomites - The second highest Dolomite peak is one of the outstanding mountains in the Alps overall and its ascent is a full-day, adventurous undertaking.
Over 2100 meters of elevation difference. Climbing sections grade II, ascending on gravelly, very steep slabs in tremendous exposure. Finishing with a short ridge, a small crown, a cross. And this view! Three crosses you may put up if you safely get back to the valley. After several rockfalls in 2014 and 2015, there was less traffic on King Antelao. The ascent via the normal route had become considerably more difficult and clearly more dangerous. Meanwhile the mountain has somewhat calmed down and Antelao is climbed more frequently again. But the route did not become easier for that. And there is still plenty of scree of all grain sizes around. It is a large, serious undertaking - which can richly reward climbers with what they seek: pure summit happiness.
