Mountain Hike to the Hochkönig in the Berchtesgaden Alps
An Audience with the King
Long, barren, and exceptionally scenic: The trail from the Arthurhaus to the Hochkönig leads from green alpine meadows past the striking Torsäule to the almost lunar-like karst landscape of the Übergossene Alm.
After climbing about 1,700 meters in elevation, the Matrashaus—a mountain hut located right at the summit—awaits you, along with a panoramic view stretching from the nearby Steinernes Meer all the way to the Hohe Tauern. Technically moderate, but physically demanding.
