CAI Dolomiti Bellunesi
A route that allows you to reach Pizzocco in the Belluno Dolomites.
The route follows CAI trails 851 (ascending) and 853 (descending), while the section from Forcella Intrigòs to the summit is not a CAI trail. A couple of passages (from Forcella Intrigòs to Monte Piz and below the Pizzocchetto) require attention because they are slippery.
Author’s recommendation
The route is entirely south-facing, so it is preferable to avoid it during the hottest hours of the summer season.

Safety information
There are two sections that require attention:
- Between Forcella Intrigòs and the junction near Monte Piz, there are some (short) slippery sections due to loose gravel on the rock. This makes it preferable to hike these sections ascending;
- When rounding the base of the Pizzocchetto, you need to overcome a very short slippery stretch (about 1 m) where the trail is almost non-existent. Although very brief, some people have reported turning back here.

Roadbook
From the starting point, follow the signs for trail CAI 851.
After ascending about 60 m in elevation, you reach an asphalt road with an old house on the left; lack of signs might lead you to take a path entering the woods, but you should continue for about 100 m where the white-red CAI marks indicate a turn to the left.
The trail, well marked and always clearly visible, climbs rapidly until it intersects the dirt road leading to Casera Le Ere near a parking area (it is possible to leave the car here as well, thereby reducing the total elevation gain of the outing by about 160 m).
After passing the parking, continue uphill through the forest with fairly steady slopes until reaching the junction with trail 853 leading to Bivacco Palìa (CAI signs, about 1475 m). To shorten the route, you can take this trail and quickly reach the junction near Monte Piz; however, our route continues along trail 851 and after a few meters of climbing, takes us out of the woods where slopes become even steeper. In about 30 minutes, we thus reach Forcella Intrigòs (1757 m) where the majestic east face of Pizzocco is visible in front of us and the views begin to open up on parts of the Pale di San Martino, the Civetta, and the Piani Erèra Brendòl.
At Forcella Intrigòs, leave trail 851 and follow the path (wide and clearly visible) heading left; along this section, often wet, there are slippery passages due to moisture and loose gravel on rock. The tricky part is quickly passed and, once past this rocky base, you return to grassy terrain until the junction near Monte Piz. From this point begins the hardest part of the ascent to Pizzocco, with 380 m of elevation gain in about 900 m of distance, almost entirely exposed to the sun (be careful choosing times during the summer season).
The climb to the summit initially occurs on grassy terrain and then, at the Pizzocchetto, on rocky and gravelly ground. The summit cross might make you think you have arrived, but the highest point is a few dozen meters further ahead along a beautiful and panoramic ridge. The view from the summit is stunning, 360 degrees of mountains (from the Dolomites to the Pre-Alps), valleys, and the jewel of Lake Mis lying 1400 m below.
The descent retraces the ascent path up to the Monte Piz junction where it turns right and gradually leads to Casera Ere, an excellent spot for food and rest.
From Casera Ere, the descent route is easily identified, alternating short stretches of dirt road with the CAI 853 trail inside the woods.
