Roadbook
From Rifugio 7° Alpini the marked path leads along the west cliffs of Monte Pelf into the gorge below Forcella Pis Pilon. The shady scree gorge is climbed in steep switchbacks to the sunny saddle. After a short descent, the path branches off left to Monte Pelf and now leads increasingly steep over the grassy south flank to the east ridge. Grassy and rocky, it proceeds along the north cliffs to the summit rock. A short rock finale first leads a few meters into the north face, then in grade I climbing back to the east ridge, which soon flattens out. From here it continues on walking terrain to the scenic, cross-adorned summit.
The descent follows the same route to Forcella Pis Pilon. There you can choose to descend into the valley via Rifugio Alpini 7° or (as we did) left of the saddle on the southeast flank to Biv. Medassa. From there, a long, moderately steep forest path leads back to Ponte Mariano. On the right side of the gorge there is a clear ascent to the Case Bortot parking lot.
