Roadbook
We walk around the small lake at Artesso on the north side and climb, using a rocky shortcut, on a paved road up to Rifugio Bellano. Now a well-developed hiking trail leads on forest ground and roots over a few rocky outcrops through the northern flank of Monte Legnoncino to the Roccoli Lorla saddle. At halfway, trenches and shelters (information boards) from World War I can be visited. At Roccoli Lorla we walk around the small lake. To the east, slightly higher, lies Rifugio Roccoli Lorla at the base of the western ridge of Monte Legnone. We then turn right and ascend in the sparse larch and pine forest on a good path over the eastern ridge to a flattening with benches and a transmitter. A short, rocky steep section is easily overcome. The already visible chapel Santo Sfirio can now be reached in a few switchbacks on an old military road or to the right of it on a hiking trail through low scrub. Under the chapel there are walk-in positions in the rock from World War I. We hike behind the chapel into a notch, bypass the ridge somewhat exposed on the south side on a sandy path and climb over a rocky step onto the small rocky plateau of Monte Legnoncino with summit mark, cross and Madonna.
Descent along the ascent route.
