    Safety information

Easy via ferrata on the ascent in the area of Forca di Vandul

    Roadbook

Start at the parking lot at Pecol Alm (1500m) and first head towards the Agriturismo Malga Montasio (cheese dairy), pass it and go downhill on the forest road. Continue on the same level along path 621 until you reach the junction to path 640. From here steeply climb in switchbacks to Forca di Vandul (1986m). Here you get your first view down to the north side. Turn left and immediately reach the start of the short via ferrata (A/B). At the end of the via ferrata, turn left south along the path until you finally turn north again and reach the Bivacco Sandro Del Torso. Pass it and continue on path 641 into Forca de la Viene over the beautiful south flank, near the ridge, to the summit of Monte Cimone (2379m). Here enjoy the magnificent panoramic view of the west face of Montasch, the Kanin group, Pecol Alm, the Canal Valley and towards the southwest to Friuli.

On the descent shortly before the Bivacco - Forca de la Viene - turn right onto path 641, follow it steeply downhill until about 1580m where it meets path 621. From here turn left towards southeast back to the junction used on the ascent.

The cheese at Malga Montasio is also highly recommended.
