Rifugio Gombo AltoRoadbook
From the parking lot, you can go right on the forest road in a very long left-hand bend up to the grassy hill La Rolla. We shorten the route by passing the Chiesa Alpini on the left, then taking the paved road to the right and in the bend above the houses following an unmarked path to the left of the ditch to the uppermost farmstead. Above that, the ditch is crossed to the right and climbed through the mountain forest to the forest road that leads us to La Rolla. On the earthy-scruffy hiking trail CAI 701, it goes along the south flank of Monte Bronzone in a wide right-hand bend to the rocky summit slope. The summit dome is broad and grassy; a huge peace bell, a memorial plaque, and an orientation rosette adorn the summit.
We descend via the steep northern ridge to the nearby Rifugio Gombo Alto. We hike westwards on the Sentiero CAI 701 in the wooded northern flank to Ducane Alto (a small detour leads over scruffy rocks to the visible Croce di Costardisio with a deep view towards Adrara). In a saddle (small farmstead), we change to the southern flank. At a fork, we leave CAI 701 to the left and soon join a forest road that leads with some ups and downs back to the starting point.
