Monte Acuto is located among the mountains northeast of Lake Trasimeno and is ascended from Pian di Nese via the long southern ridge.
The hike to Monte Acuto is easy, offers a beautiful view, and at the right time in spring a diverse flowering display, especially orchids.

Roadbook
Do not follow the driving path but rather the marked, narrow, and eroded path No. 170a through scrub and broom in a loop to the southern ridge that rises up to Monte Acuto. You cross a driving path and after a barrier soon reach open terrain. Follow the path over the scenic ridge to the flat summit with a cross and transmission facility.
The descent follows the same path.
Directions
Coming from Florence on the A1 (Florence – Rome motorway) to the exit for the toll-free SS 75 towards Perugia and continue on this road to the Mantignana exit just before Perugia. From Perugia on the SS 75 towards Florence to the Corciano exit or a bit further to the Mantignana exit. On the road towards Umbertide via Maestrello to San Giovanni del Pantano. Turn left there, cross a saddle with a beautiful view of Monte Acuto and at the next junction turn left again and after 300 m reach the location marked Piano del Nese (Pian di Nese) on the Kompass map with signpost and overview map.
If coming from the north via the E 45, which connects Umbertide – Perugia, exit at Pierantonio and drive via Pantano to San Giovanni del Pantano. Turn right there and proceed as described to Pian di Nese.
Parking
Pian di Nese, 309 m, or the road up to a farmstead. Pass it and park at the junction of path No. 170a (340 m), saving 5 minutes.
