There are two marked ascents available on the Palnock:
- A partly very steep path leads over the broad southern flank. In the dense forest, it goes in a direct line over the steep flank to the moderately inclined and sparsely wooded southern ridge, which leads directly to the summit cross.
- Before the inn, turn right onto the Brugger farm road via a moderately steep, rooty hollow path past the Ambergerhütte eastwards to Schwarzsee and over the flat southeastern ridge to the highest point (Hinkelstein) of the Palnock.
Now begins a long ridge hike along the rolling, broad connecting ridge to the Mirnock. Over two hills, we walk into a hollow, then somewhat steeper up to the Lahnernock. Again, it goes down into a hollow with signposts. Straight over the meadow slope onto a ridge that leads past the Menhir rock under the flank of the Rindernock. With a short detour to the right, the Lirzberger Alpenspitz and the Rindernock can be reached pathlessly over their ridges. Behind these hills, we walk northwards on the flat Gingeralm along the Hinkelsteine in moderate ascent over the Scala Paradisi to the flat western ridge of the Mirnock and right of the dry stone wall to the small summit rock with a cross.
Return to the Palnock via the ascent path, descent to the Gasthof Walder via one of the two Palnock access routes.
