Roadbook
From the bus stop in Mareit via the west exit to LS36. Here begin the steep paths through the wooded north flank of the Mareitstein. We first choose the very steep mining path, the path towards Wurzeralm is also possible. At the Knappenhaus briefly westwards on the goods road, then on the marked path 14A with many steep switchbacks in the high forest up to the long eastern ridge. Now we hike over several ridge bumps to the summit cross of the Mareitstein with open views. A short descent (turn right to Wurzeralm), then it goes over the broad ridge with some ups and downs past the inconspicuous Wurzer Alpenspitze, lastly quite steep and slightly exposed up to the marked Hochspitz. A steep, partly rocky descent takes us into the Ratschinger Joch. A short detour westwards up to the visible Ratschinger Kreuz on the east ridge of the Hohe Ferse is worthwhile.
Back into the col and on the marked path northwards downhill towards Entholzalm. Before that, however, right around the Hochspitz into the south notch and steeply up the southern ridge to the Einachtspitze. Down the east ridge and north flank to the Jogilealm and over the Kerschbaumeralm to the Wurzeralm. From there on the alpine road eastwards below the Mareitstein until crossing path 23A and steeply down on the already known hiking path to Mareit.
