The Malurch (Monte Malvueric Alto) is a mountain rich in history. Located in the frontline area during the First World War, many positions at the Malurch saddle still testify to the strategic importance of the mountain. We hike on old war trails on this beautiful viewpoint mountain.

From the Nassfeld Pass, we hike on the promenade path west of the Nassfeld lake heading south. A short piece to the left and then follow the signposts "Winkelalm" across wetlands and mountain avalanche forest – very romantic downhill, crossing small streams, heading southwest. After reaching the forest road, take a slight ascent to the right, passing distinctive rocks, and reach the Winkelalm located on a clearing at 1470 m. (The access can also be from the abandoned barracks at the road, saving about 20 minutes, path 433). Here turn south, following the signposts "Malvueric - Malurch", we climb through mountain forest on a World War I path, which partially runs through rock, along memorial plaques and remains of positions to the Pridola Saddle/Sella della Pridola. We stay on path 433 (do not go towards the west ridge – the terrain there is partially very slippery and exposed) and cross impressive tunnel constructions along the southern side of the mountain until we reach the east ridge and then ascend to the summit heading northwest. Magnificent vegetation. Return is the same as the ascent.
Note: For sure-footed mountaineers, the return path can be via the Alta via CAI Pontebba, which leads from the east ridge over a distinctive notch with a steep, ladder-secured descent towards Trattenalm. After reaching the federal road, follow it to the left back to the starting point. This variant is better done in the opposite direction.
