Far visible peak of the Laugen on the southern ridge of the valley, which also stands out geologically (Bolzano quartz porphyry) from the rest of the mountain range.
From Mitterbad (961 m, narrow road here) on trail 8 southwards through the forest for the most part, steeply up to the Laugen farm (1311 m), continue on trail 8 for a short distance, then turn left, continue on trail 8A through steep forest and past the Laugner Alm up to the Laugenjöchl (2050 m) in the south-western ridge of the mountain; now turn left, continuing to follow trail 8A, up the free ridge of the slope to the narrow, but safe and grassy summit ridge and over it to the highest point with the cross. The descent is via the ascent path.
