Ascent from Reichenbach via the Tobel route (very beautiful, but slippery!) to the Richteralpe and further on to the Gaisalpsee. Return to Richteralpe the same way, then on the forest road to Reichenbach!

    Safety information

Tobel route mostly wet and very slippery!

A rope-secured passage shortly before the Lower Gaisalpsee, but unproblematic!

    Roadbook

From the parking lot we walk a short way on the forest road to the junction of the Tobel route. There we leave the forest road and hike steeply up through the Gaisbachtobel until shortly before the Lower Richteralpe we meet the forest road to the Gaisalpe again. We cross it and go up over the Lower Richteralpe on a meadow path until we meet the path leading from the Gaisalpe to the Gaisalp lakes. We hike up this path to the Lower Gaisalpsee. The path becomes increasingly narrow, steeper, and rockier. A short section leads us over rocky terrain (rope secured!), but it is unproblematic. Then we reach the larger of the two Gaisalp lakes - beautifully located in a basin below the Rubihorn. Very inviting for an extensive rest (a popular destination for family outings in summer!). The return trip is the same way back to the Richteralpe. From there we go over the forest road - past the Gaisalp chapel - back to the parking lot in Reichenbach.
