High peak in the east of the Rieserferner Group
Access from Sand in Taufers to the valley floor of Rein and then right through the Bachertal to the Säge snack station (1580 m, parking lot). From there, follow the signs »Kasseler Hütte« and marking 8, crossing the bridge over the valley stream, up a steep forest trail to the wide path 1 and along it over open slopes up to the Kasseler Hütte (2276 m; summer operation; about 2 hrs from the starting point); overnight stay here. – From the shelter with number 8 on the Arthur-Hartdegen path almost flat under Rieserferner and Hochgall over moraine terrain and glacier polishings to the rocks of the Riesernock (partly secured) and further to the fork near a small lake opposite Ursprungalm (2350 m; about 1.5 hrs from the hut). Now right (still marking 8) on mostly good trail through rocky grassy slopes and over blockwork long up, shortly before reaching a prominent terrain shoulder following the left branching marking over blockwork up to the foot of the summit structure and on the rocky
