From the car park in Hohenburg, follow the signs for the Grasleitensteig (No. 621). At first, you walk on the paved road through the Mühlbach district. Passing the last farmsteads, you turn left onto a rough forest track and already gain some altitude. This offers hikers a beautiful view of the Isar valley. The path then becomes steeper and leads in some switchbacks to the edge of the forest. The trail now crosses the southwest side of the Grasleitenkopf, 1433 meters, and after about two and a half hours visitors reach the Lenggrieser Hut, 1338 meters. From the hut, it continues for about 40 minutes on trail no. 621/622 to the Seekarkreuz, 1601 meters, with its wonderful panoramic view of the Karwendel, the Achensee, and the Alpine foothills. After a summit rest, return to the Lenggrieser Hut, where the hut keepers treat their guests with dishes made from regional products and you can enjoy the beautiful view from the terrace over the upper Isar valley to the Karwendel and Wetterstein mountains. For the descent, the Sulzersteig is recommended, making the route a circular tour. From the hut, walk on the forest track just past the Seekaralm. Here, trail no. 612 branches off to the left, which leads over the Sulzersteig into the Hirschbach valley. On a forest path, hikers follow the Hirschbach downstream back to the starting point, the car park at Hohenburg.

Important note for winter hikes / ski tour ascent:
Although usually tracked, both the Grasleitensteig and the Sulzersteig are only recommended in winter when the avalanche risk is low. Both trails cross several avalanche paths. It is recommended to ascend via the winter path to the Lenggrieser Hut. Follow the forest road to the Sulzersteig junction, then follow the signpost 'Winterweg' (trail 612/613)
