Crossing of the Lattengebirge from Bayerisch Gmain to Selboden bus stop, Bischofswiesen via Hochschlegel, Karkopf, and Dreisesselberg.
Strenuous mountain route, well-suited for public transport access. We start at the station in Bayerisch Gmain. From the station, we go to the Wanderzentrum parking lot where we ascend over the Alpgartensteig to Hochschlegel. At Schlegelmulde, we can stop for a break. We then go over the Karkopf, the highest mountain of the Lattengebirge, to Dreisesselberg. On the descent, we can visit the "Steinerne Agnes." In Selboden, we take the bus back to Bad Reichenhall or Berchtesgaden.

Roadbook
We leave the station in Bayerisch Gmain heading south and there at the traffic island encounter Obere Bahnhofstraße. We follow it a few meters west and then turn south. At Lattenbergstraße, we first go right and then left to follow Alpentalstraße for 200 m. Here we turn right onto Alpgartensteig, keeping right, following it to the bridge over the Wappach. After the bridge, we keep left and follow the Wappach until we cross Fallersteiner Graben. Shortly after, a path goes left to the bridge over the Alpgartengraben, which leads up to Toni-Michl-Steig. We do not follow this but go half-right to follow the path, which gradually moves away from Alpgartengraben. At about 1200 m elevation, we encounter a steep, about 200 m high ladder section. After leaving the ladder, the path continues steeply with switchbacks upwards, where at the end we meet the ridgeway to Schlegelmulde and Hochschlegel. If we want to stop at a hut, we keep right here; otherwise, we go left with switchbacks up to Hochschlegel in 10 minutes.
From Hochschlegel, we continue along the ridge, pass a viewpoint, and reach point 1689, where paths to Karkopf, Törlkopf, and Dreisesselberg cross. We follow the signpost to Karkopf and enjoy the wonderful view of Watzmann, Hunstod, Hochkalter, and Kaiser. We return to the junction and turn right towards Dreisesselberg. After about 400 m, the path to the next summit goes left, and after nearly 100 m elevation through dense dwarf pines, we reach the summit of Dreisesselberg.
Here too, we must retrace our ascent and at the junction turn towards Steinerne Agnes and Winkl. We descend about 300 m through sparse rocky forest until we reach a small meadow where we keep left at the fork and continue level for about half a kilometer to the junction to Steinerne Agnes. Caution, the rock up to Agnes is very brittle!
After descending from Steinerne Agnes, we turn left towards Rotofensattel, then after 100 m take the right path to Bichellehen/Selboden. After descending about 60 m, we take the left path, which we follow for approximately 2 km, then turn left into a wide gravel path. We follow this path until shortly before Bichellehen, where we turn sharply right. This path runs about 350 m along the slope until it bends gently left into the paved road that leads over Landthal to B 20. If we want to take the bus to Bad Reichenhall, we must cross to the other side of B 20 to reach the Selboden bus stop.
