The classic local mountain towers high above the Etschtal valley. As a prominent mountain between St. Pankraz and Unser Frau im Walde, the Laugen symbolically forms the connection between the Ulten Valley and the Deutschnonsberg. There is evidence that it was climbed as early as the 16th century by two noble ladies (under male guidance) and has since been known as the "Ladies' Mountain".
The hike begins on the Gampen Pass (parking possibilities at the pass or along the road). Here two paths begin on the Laugen, around which countless thunderstorm legends entwine. One leads steeply up, the other is more leisurely. We take the easy path no. 10, which first leads level and parallel to the road into the forest. Then we hike moderately uphill to the Laugenalm (1853 m). The well-marked trail then leads uphill, becoming steeper, and in the last part over a ridge to the summit. For the descent, take the same route.
