The Lachriegel is easily accessible as a half-day route from the starting point Wagenberg above Lessach.
Although the Lachriegel forms only an insignificant elevation in the southwest ridge of the Golzhöhe, it can still score with beautiful near and far views. Especially the view down to Lessach is impressive. Once you have passed the somewhat longer forest section, you hike past partly mighty larches to the flat summit plateau.
Author’s recommendation
An extension of the route to the Golzhöhe with mostly pathless but not difficult ascent is possible. Recommended in good weather.
For those who like it: In autumn, Lungau is the season of the "Schafaufbratln", e.g. at the Andlwirt in St. Andrä ( https://www.andlwirt.at ).
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.

Roadbook
You walk a few meters on the paved road towards the farmstead, turn right onto the gravel path, cross the stream and then immediately go left uphill (trail signs Roteck, Lachriegel, RW 11 and 3). Between wooden fences, the path climbs along the Golzgraben in the forest, crosses the ditch and after climbing over a fence several times crosses the forest road to reach open terrain at about 1900 m altitude. Passing a particularly mighty larch, you quickly climb higher over slopes covered with alpine rose bushes next to a small stream and, after crossing it, keep left towards the summit of Lachriegel with cross and beech.
The descent takes place via the ascent path.
