The demanding mountain route leads us from Holzgau to the Kratzer and should only be attempted by experienced mountaineers. It steadily ascends on a gravel path past the roaring Simms waterfall and Café Uta to the Lower Roßgumpen Alp. Then a path begins, which now leads very steeply up to the Upper Roßgumpen Alp. For a time, we follow the popular Heilbronner Way and can already enjoy great views of our summit goal before climbing the Kratzer over steep scree terrain and rocks. The view from the summit is breathtaking and prepares us for the challenging, rocky descent. The described direction is better if you travel without a rope because the long, steep sections are on the ascent. If using a rope, the other direction may be better because you can rappel the long steep sections. At least on the western of the two steep sections, there is an abseil sling.
