From Graswang, we walk along a road to the Dickelschwaig forest lodge and, at a fork after a bridge, take the left path that leads into the forest. This is the path that runs alongside the Kuhalpenbach stream, which it frequently crosses from left to right and back again.  Continuing along a narrow path, we follow the stream through mountain forest until the path leads directly into a rocky trail that runs alongside the Kuhalm. At the next fork in the farm road, the path to the right leads to the Kienjoch and the path to the left also leads to the Kienjoch. Through the forest and mountain pine terrain, the trail passes a small marshy pond and begins the ascent to the saddle. At the saddle, we keep to the left and walk along the ridge to the next fork. We turn left and ascend the ridge, which winds up and down—partly marly and crumbly—over two secondary peaks to the Kienjoch.
