The route has a pre-alpine character and starts with a very steep ascent and a secured key section over the Pfronten mountain. This mountain has several summits and is a foothill of the Kienberg. The path is mostly wooded and partly rocky. The crossing is made possible by a natural, mainly narrow path from east to west. There are no official routes for crossing the Kienberg, so the path is not signposted. Nevertheless, red markings can be found in places.
