The tour starts in Pfronten - village at the Wohlfahrt tavern. Park there or arrive by bus at the Achtalstrasse stop. The tour is technically challenging overall, which is not obvious at first "from the outside". The ascent and ridge sections are consistently T4, requiring absolute surefootedness and a good head for heights, as some parts are exposed with climbing sections of difficulty level 1. Cable protection is only at one spot, other rocky sections are without protection. Not an official path and without signposting, but here and there a red dot, which is not always easy to spot. Due to fallen trees, there is a lot of extra physical effort needed and the path must be searched for again. The descent is somewhat easier again, T2 to T3.
After parking, walk about 10 minutes uphill to the Milchhäusle cafe, then start the path, which immediately winds steeply upwards. The slope increases and you go through steep grassy terrain in the forest. Then a small climbing section where roots also provide a good grip. Further up is a somewhat tricky and narrow passage in very steep grassy terrain. Shortly before the first summit of the Pfronten mountain there is the cable-secured spot, which actually does not pose a special difficulty. At the top, a summit cross with summit book and a nice little bench. Then continue to the 2nd and 3rd Pfronten summits, always on top of the ridge, partly rocky. Then comes another key section, the path is briefly interrupted and a protruding rock comes in from the left, exposed downwards. Here I pack away the poles and take a big bold step over the gap in the path, simultaneously bending due to the overhanging gripless rock. A bypass of this spot cannot be identified, as steep terrain drops away downwards everywhere. After the 3rd Pfronten mountain, the path winds about 100 meters down to a wooded saddle, where you could descend left on a path towards Achtalstrasse. We continue towards Schnalskopf, again about 150 meters up, always nicely along the ridge, which sometimes drops steeply and airily to the left and right. After the Schnalskopf, the Kienberg finally announces itself, whose summit cross can be seen from afar. However, I would only recommend the break about 20 meters behind the summit cross, as the view is better there. From there, descend into Himmelreich, a flat saddle between Achtal and Vils valley. Here we hike on farm roads and forest roads to Fallmühle, where you can stop in summer. From there continue towards Pfronten back to the starting point. Overall a very lonely and quiet tour, probably rarely done judging by the condition of the path and the summit book. The tour can also be done in the opposite direction, but I would recommend the described direction due to the climbing sections.
